Our class is a preschool special education class for children ages 3-5. All of our students have demonstrated significant delays in two or more areas of development or some type of disability and therefore require special education to meet their developmental milestones. My goal is provide each student with the foundation and skills needed to be successful in life. We work hard to prepare them for their Kindergarten year and want to ensure their transition is as smooth as possible.

My classes are split up by age/grade level. The group that I get ready for Kindergarten comes in the morning. We use a research based 4-year-old curriculum, OWLS. We have a monthly theme which is broken down by the week to include new concept words, stories, poems, math, and literacy skills needed for success in Kindergaten. I adapt each new concept to fit the individual level of my kiddos.
The afternoon group is my youngest group. We focus on a letter, color, and number a week and we have a monthly theme, book, and poem. This is typically a smaller group and we focus on brand new functional skills needed in the school setting. Most of my kids start out without knowing any type of school appropriate behaviors. It is such a joy to teach and watch them learn to love school.
